Jason Knight, Owner & WineMaker

Jason Knight is the Owner and Winemaker of Saudé Creek Vineyards, and his love for agriculture and business is outstanding. Growing up, Mr. Knight had always dreamed of becoming a farmer. After serving in the Marine Corps following High School, Mr. Knight officially started making efforts to realize that dream. He gained his degree in Agriculture Business and Economics from the University of Auburn, and soon followed a career in Landscaping. He then moved from Alabama to Virginia almost 20 years ago to further pursue this line of work.

Mr. Knight received an opportunity to lease land at Hill Pleasant Farms in Norge, Virginia, where 26 acres of apple trees grew on property. His vision of becoming a farmer suddenly came into focus, and after leasing the structures and acreage, he began simply with an apple cider and fresh produce venture. The idea to create wine instead of cider eventually came along, and Mr. Knight purchased 100 acres of land high in the New Kent area. The Winery was built, grape vines and apple trees were planted, and Saudé Creek Vineyards officially opened it’s doors to thirsty customers in 2011!

Mr. Knight continues to put everything he has into Saudé Creek, crafting new wines, growing the business, and working hard to create an atmosphere that welcomes every guest into its humble family.

Katherine Meyerhoff, General Manager

Katherine is Saudé Creek’s General Manager, and she makes sure the day-to-day operations are running smoothly year-round. From staffing, to supply chain, to business organization, Katherine is a huge part of what keeps Saudé Creek so proficient. Her dedication to the business is remarkable, and when Katherine isn’t in her office or answering calls, she’ll most likely be behind the bar helping out wherever she can.

Katherine’s been a part of the Saudé Creek family for over 8 years now, and she can’t imagine leaving anytime soon. A New Kent County native, Katherine appreciates the chance to work within her community. Plus, she really likes the wine!

When Katherine isn’t at the winery, she’s usually spending time with her husband, daughter, and their cat Finn, as well as with her family and friends. On her days off, she also likes to visit other wineries for “research” purposes.

Mr. Saudé, Co-Owner

Mr. Saudé is the winery’s resident cat, and he’s definitely become a fixture here at the Vineyard. He turned up underneath the decks of the winery back in 2012 during a rainstorm, when he was just a tiny kitten. Mr. Saudé practically owns the place now, becoming one of the most beloved figures of the Saudé Creek family in no time at all. Often, guests will ask about the cat before they ask about the wines!

You’ll usually find him lounging in weird places, like on a barrel, on the stairs, or even on your cooler if you’re not watching out for him. He adores treats, forehead scratches, and long walks along the vines. Mr. Saudé also loves to greet our customers, and often makes his rounds each day to check in.

Next time you come in, see if you can spot him! He’s around here somewhere...

The Saudé Creek family wouldn’t be complete without also mentioning its’ amazing crew of tasting room associates!
Visit the winery on the weekends to meet them, and get a feel for what makes the Saudé Creek team so special.
